Legacy Oaks is a Planned Unit Development residential community of 112 individually-owned homes—74 single units, 14 twin units and 24 quad units—for active adults 55 and older located on 32 acres in one of Eastern Pennsylvania’s most desirable residential areas—Lower Macungie Township near the boroughs of Emmaus and Macungie. Amenities
Most authorities agree that mature adults are happier and healthier when they stay physically, mentally and socially active. All are available at Legacy Oaks. A walking path around Legacy Oaks combined with the opportunity for extended walks into Macungie or surrounding residential communities offers numerous outdoor walking options. (See this article from the Morning Call of May 21, 2014.)
The Legacy Oaks heated pool is available during warmer months and grandchildren are welcome anytime the pool is open. On Friday evenings during the summer, residents gather on the pool deck to socialize. Participants bring dinner and an appetizer or dessert to share with others.
There are two retention ponds stocked with fish (bluegills, bass, and others). Residents can relax at the pondside benches or try their hand at catch and release fishing.
The clubhouse has a large social room (capacity 100) with a fully equipped kitchen that can be rented by residents for private events such as showers, birthday parties and family reunions. A fully-equipped indoor exercise room is available for residents in the Legacy Oaks Clubhouse year-round. Treadmills, an elliptical machine and stationary bicycles offer aerobic exercise. A weight machine and free weights are available for resistance training. Singles and doubles tennis and pickleball are available at Legacy Oaks’ tennis/pickleball court.
Special Interest Clubs and Social Events
Several interest groups at Legacy Oaks offer residents opportunities for active mental exercise in a social context.
Bridge, pinochle, and canasta groups meet regularly at the clubhouse or in residents’ homes. Book clubs meet to discuss recently read books. The Lower Macungie Library is only a short drive away. Resident-sponsored wine tasting events allow friends to taste new wines together and discuss their preferences. The Legacy Oaks Social Committee organizes and invites all residents’ participation in a year-round schedule of planned social events. Special event and holiday-related dinners and cook-outs provide residents with opportunities to meet and greet their neighbors while enjoying delicious meals. Pizza nights, soup nights and themed pot-luck suppers offer more informal social opportunities. A monthly newsletter keeps all residents onboard with community events and news.
